Soccer concludes road trip with tie at Methodist

The Salem College soccer team picked up their second straight double overtime tie of the week at Methodist yesterday.

Fayetteville, NC-The Salem College soccer team picked up their second straight double overtime tie of the week at Methodist yesterday. The Spirits scored in the 60th minute to tie the match 1-1 with the Monarchs. Neither team could score over the next 50 minutes. Salem improves to 2-0-2 overall.

Methodist took a 1-0 lead in the first half. MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) scored off of a set piece that was flicked on by Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) in the second half to tie the score. Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) made several key saves and finished with 10 saves in goal.

"We did not play our best game today, especially in the first half," said Head Coach Jay Callahan. "I am proud that we stuck in the game and got the result, but we have to get better."

Salem plays their first home match of the season on Saturday at 2:00 against Greensboro.
