Elko High's Canepa commits to play soccer at Salem

Elko, NV-The Salem College soccer team is thrilled to announce that Morgan Canepa has committed to attend Salem next fall. Canepa played soccer for Coach Michelle Gandolfo at Elko High School in Elko, NV. The Salem soccer team is coming off a 16-3-1 overall record and Great South Regular Season Championship in 2012.
Canepa, a center back and forward, was the 2012 Nevada 1A All-State Defensive Player of the Year. She was also awarded as the Elko Daily Free Press Soccer Player of the Year in 2012. She was a Nevada All-State 1st-team member in 2010, and on the honorable mention team in 2011. Canepa has been an all-league and all-area selection the past three years for soccer.
She was selected as a co-captain in 2012. Canepa also played club soccer for the Elko Indar Futbol Club. She was a 3-year letter winner for the track & field team, and was the anchor of the 4 X 200 State Champion relay team.
Canepa has been a member of the Elko Pep Club, Elko Youth Group, Key Club, and a community volunteer in high school. She is the daughter of Shelly Canepa and Mark Canepa.
Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence for women.
