Soccer earns second win in as many games against Emory & Henry

The Salem College soccer team picked up a 3-0 shutout victory at home today against Emory & Henry. The Spirits controlled much of the game against the Wasps in the non-conference match. Salem improves to 2-0 this season, while Emory & Henry drops to 0-1.

bethanycornerWinston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team picked up a 3-0 shutout victory at home today against Emory & Henry. The Spirits controlled much of the game against the Wasps in the non-conference match. Salem improves to 2-0 this season, while Emory & Henry drops to 0-1.

Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, Montana) scored her 4th goal of the season in the 35th minute on an assist by Sataj Johnson (Corona, CA). Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored off a Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA) corner kick in the 55th minute. MacKenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) finished off the scoring in the 58th minute on a pass by Ferguson.

The Spirits out shot the Wasps 19-3 and had an 8-1 corner kick advantage. Jessi Carter (Tampa, FL) and Paige Ketchum (Jacksonville, NC) split time in goal to earn the shutout.

The Spirits return to action at home on Tuesday before they hit the road for 6 games, when they host William Peace at 5:00.
