Soccer's Barcom set to participate in USA Climbing Championships

Winston-Salem, NC-Incoming Salem College first-year, Taylor Barcom (Anchorage, AK), is set to participate in the USA Climbing (Sport Climbing Series) Youth National Championships. The event will take place at Stone Summit in Atlanta, GA from July 7-10. Barcom will be a member of the Salem College soccer team this fall.
She recently competed in the USA Climbing Division 1 (1992-1993), Divisional Championships at Momentum Climbing Gym in Sandy, UT. There are five divisions nationwide in Division 1. Barcom placed second in the female junior sport climbing discipline and first in the female junior speed climbing. The sport climbing series is 3-40 feet climbs over 2 days, and the speed climbing is 6-40 feet climbs over 2 days. The top 6 from each group were invited to nationals.
There will be 25-35 competitors in each age group at Stone Summit, and the top 3-6 will get an invitation to the USA Climbing National Team and to the Youth World Championships in Imst, Austria. USA Climbing receives sanctioning from the International Federation for Sport Climbing, the International Olympic Committee, and the United States Olympic Committee.
