Soccer wins at Spelman to improve to 12-2

The Salem College soccer team defeated Spelman 3-2 today on the road in a Great South match. Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored two goals off of corner kicks in the win. Salem improves to 12-2 with the win and 5-1 in the conference.

stephheadsDecatur, GA-The Salem College soccer team defeated Spelman 3-2 today on the road in a Great South match. Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) scored two goals off of corner kicks in the win. Salem improves to 12-2 with the win and 5-1 in the conference.

Hubbard put the Spirits on the scoreboard in the 17th minute when she scored on a corner kick by Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC). Spelman scored in the 26th minute, and the game was tied 1-1 at the break.

Spelman scored quickly in the second half to take a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute. Salem fought back with another Hubbard goal on a corner by Trakas. Trakas scored the game winning goal in the 71st minute off of a pass by Tia Bringhurst (Hurricane, UT). Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Springs, NC) recorded 9 saves in the win.

Salem returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Macon, GA to take on Georgia Wesleyan at 6:00. The Spirits are hoping to clench second place in the conference and a first-round bye in the match.
