Soccer improves to 9-2 with road win at Warren Wilson

The Salem College soccer team defeated Warren Wilson College 7-0 in a non-conference soccer match today. Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC) scored two goals and had two assists for the Spirits in the win. Salem moves to 9-2 overall on the season with the victory.

annadribbleAsheville, NC-The Salem College soccer team defeated Warren Wilson College 7-0 in a non-conference soccer match today. Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC) scored two goals and had two assists for the Spirits in the win. Salem moves to 9-2 overall on the season with the victory.

Tia Bringhurst (Hurricane, UT) got the scoring started for Salem in the 24th minute off of an assist by Trakas. Alexi Saganich (McLeansville, NC) scored five minutes later off of an assist by Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA). Kent scored the Spirits final first half tally off of an assist by Sabrina Thiel in the 39th minute to give Salem a 3-0 lead at the break.

Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) got the scoring started two minutes into the second half off of a corner by Trakas. Trakas would score back to back goals in the 63rd and 64th minutes off of assists by Kent and Kim Wisen (Madison, OH). Thiel finished off the scoring in the 85th minute off of an assist by Kellie Younger (Ledyard, CT). 

The Spirits outshot Warren Wilson 17-4, and they had a 3-0 corner kick advantage. Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Springs, NC) and Cassy Khouri (Canyon Country, CA) combined for the shutout in goal.

Salem returns to action on Tuesday when they host Averett University in a non-conference match at 4:30.
