Soccer improves to 5-1 with home win against Peace College

The Salem College soccer team defeated Peace College 12-0 to remain undefeated at home for the season. Mackenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) and Courtney Hedgecock (Mount Carmel, CA) each scored two goals for the Spirits in the win. Ten different players scored goals in the game for the Spirits.

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team defeated Peace College 12-0 to remain undefeated at home for the season. Mackenzie Schmidt (Columbus, OH) and Courtney Hedgecock (Mount Carmel, CA) each scored two goals for the Spirits in the win. Ten different players scored goals in the game for the Spirits. Salem improves to 5-1 on the smackheadeason.

Two seniors combined on the first goal for the Spirits in the 8th minute. Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC) scored on a cross from Kim Wisen (Madison, OH). Hedgecock, Katelyn Todd (Moravian Falls, NC), and Alana Carroll (Dallas, TX) all scored their first collegiate goals in the win. Tia Bringhurst (Hurricane, UT), Anna Trakas (Tryon, NC), Alexi Saganich (McLeansville, NC), Amanda Orsino (Sauquiot, NY), and Kaitlyn Horner (Elkhart, IN) also tallied goals for Salem.

Trakas added two assists in the game. Sabrina Thiel (Hillsboro, OH), Bethany Kent (Manassas, VA), Megan Lisle (Lawrenceville, GA), Michelle Lawler (Gibsonville, NC) and Lauren Hansen (Jacksonville, NC) provided assists in the game. Salem out shot Peace 52-3. Jazmine Bridgeman (Mill Springs, NC) and Cassy Khouri (Canyon Country, CA) combined in goal for the shutout.

Salem returns to action on Saturday the 25th when they host Huntingdon College in their first Great South Athletic Conference match of the season at 2:00.
