teaminitaliangoalMontecatini, Italy-The Salem College soccer team defeated Montecatini Calcio 1-0 under the lights in Italy last night. Tatum Justice (Jacksonville, NC) scored midway through the first half for the games only goal. Cassy Khouri (Canyon Country, CA) was also huge in net with 8 saves.

Justice scored on a pass from Alexi Saganich (McLeansville, NC) about halfway through the first half. This was her first action back since the 2010 spring game due to knee surgery. Coach Jay Callahan said "It was great to see Tatum back on the field after missing the entire 2010 fall season, and she looked just like she did in 2009."

Khouri was able to keep the shutout with several key saves. Salem and Montecatini Calcio were even with 11 shots apiece. "We struggled in the first 10 minutes, which was largely due to jet lag, three months without playing, and just taking in the Italian style of play," said Callahan. "Everybody on the team got a lot of playing time, and we really looked strong from midway through the first half until the end of the game."
