Soccer Wins Third in a Row

Montgomery, AL-The Salem College soccer team beat Huntingdon College today 5-1 in Alabama. Tatum Justice (Jacksonville, NC) led the way with two goals for the Spirits. Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) had two assists in the game. Tori Collier (Raleigh, NC) and Samantha Hubbard (Sanford, NC) each had a goal and an assist. Salem improves to 5-3, while Huntingdon drops to 1-6.
Justice started the scoring in the 8th minute from an assist by Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC). Hubbard would score two minutes later off of an assist by Collier. Salem went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) headed in a corner by Wisen in the 65th minute. Erin Bailey scored a penalty kick for Huntingdon to close the score to 3-1. Salem would storm back with two goals quickly to seal the win. Justice scored from a pass by Hubbard in the 74th minute, and Collier found the net two minutes later with an assist by Wisen. Salem outshot Huntingdon 26-5. Andrea Baldwin (Hudson, NC) had 3 saves on the day.
"The eight hour drive down to the game definitely took some out of our team," said Head Coach Jay Callahan. "We finally woke up after Huntingdon scored, and played the kind of soccer that we are capable of playing."
