Soccer Team Rolls Against Peace
Winston-Salem, NC-In their first home game of the season, the Salem College soccer team had a dominating 6-1 victory against Peace College. Tatum Justice (Jacksonville, NC) led the way with two goals and two assists in the match. Salem improved their record to 3-3 and Peace fell to 2-5.
Justice began the scoring in the 12th minute when she followed up a shot by Tori Collier (Raleigh, NC). Collier scored a goal in the 33rd minute off of an assist by Justice. Collier now sits alone as the all-time leading goal scorer for Salem with 14 goals. Amber Bryant (Jonesville, NC) finished up the first half scoring, when she struck a shot from 20 yards out that beat the Pacers keeper. Kirby Callaway (Fayetteville, NC) assisted Bryant on the goal, and the score was 3-0 at halftime.
Kim Wisen (Madison, OH) volleyed in a cross from Justice early in the second half. Haley Bright put Peace on the board in the 64th minute. Salem came right back down the field and Brittany Thurlow (Whispering Pines, NC) finished a cross by Bryant. Justice finished the scoring in the 67th minute with Collier providing the assist. Andrea Baldwin (Hudson, NC) and Lauren Wisen (Madison, OH) each played a half in goal for the Spirits.
Salem returns to the field tomorrow at 2:00 versus Randolph, as they try to win their 10th home game in a row.
