Raleigh, NC- The 2007 Salem College Soccer Team earned a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon as they played Peace College in the first contest of the season.

Amber Bryant (Jonesville, NC) scored both of the Spirits goals as Salem took a 2-0 lead. Bryant’s two goals were assisted by Tori Collier (Raleigh, NC) and Liz Clem (Merced, CA). Peace College tied the game by two goals by Harlonda Smith. The game went into overtime and ended in a 2-2 tie.

Jamie Eurell (Jacksonville, NC) played great defense in her first game and Bryant/Collier had nonstop aggression on the front line” according to Coach Callahan.

“Although the tie was disappointing after leading 2-0, our team showed great improvement since last year through great defense and ball aggression. After two losses to Peace in 2006 (0-3, 1-3), this game was a lot better, especially with a few key players being injured. We look forward to our rematch in two weeks.”- Coach Callahan
