Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team lost their first home game in twelve tries today to Meredith. The first 60 minutes of the match were scoreless, before Meredith found the net four times in the final 30 minutes. The Spirits fall to 7-5, while Meredith improves to 8-3.

The game went into the break without a goal. In the second half, Meredith had goals from Kristy Knight (60:02), Alex Calvert (64:12), Carter Watson (77:48), and Emmy Errante (80:31). Andrea Baldwin had 14 saves for Salem.

"We played hard throughout the rainy first half," said Head Coach Jay Callahan. "Once we gave up the first goal, we put our heads down, and a team with the caliber players of Meredith will capitalize on that mistake. We have three tough matches coming up, and we need to have a better team effort to do well in those games."

Salem plays again on October 17th at home against Methodist at 4:00.
