Eye Opener 5K

Event Watch:
-This meet will feature 26 women's teams. Most of the teams are NCAA DI or DII, except for Salem and Piedmont College

of Georgia.

-Piedmont was the champion of the Great South meet last year.


Week Schedule:

Saturday, 9/01 vs. NC Wesleyan at 2:00(Home); Sunday, 9/02 vs. Emory and Henry at 2:00(Home); Tuesday, vs. William Peace at 5:00(Home)

N.C. Wesleyan

(0-0)- Wesleyan returns their leading scorer and All-USA South performer Rebecca Staylor. Salem is currently 1-0 against Wesleyan. The only time the two teams met was in 2007, when Salem defeated Wesleyan 2-1 in Rocky Mount.

Emory and Henry

(0-0)-This will be the first match for the Wasps in 2012. They return their two leading scorers from last season: Erica Merriman and Bethany Myer. The Spirits and Wasps have never played.

William Peace

(0-0)-The Spirits defeated William Peace last year 7-0 on the road. The Pacers return most of their starters and they have a big crop of new first year players on the roster. The Spirits currently hold an 7-2 all-time advantage over the Pacers.

Greensboro College

(0-0)-Last year the Pride swept two matches against the Spirits. The Pride will play 4 matches this weekend against Hollins, Roanoke, Emory and Henry, and Methodist. They have 5 full-time returning starters from last season, including USA South All-Conference performer, Danielle Simpson. The Pride were picked to finish in 8th place in the USA South Preseason Poll.
