Basketball loses defensive battle of GSAC undefeateds

The Salem College basketball team lost a low-scoring game between the 2 remaining Great South undefeated teams today in Georgia. In a defensive battle, Agnes Scott pulled away from the Spirits in the 2nd half for a 41-33 win. Salem falls to 8-8 overall and 2-1 in the Great South, and Agnes Scott improves to 7-7 overall and 3-0 in the GSAC.

The Salem College basketball team lost a non-conference game to Guilford College, 70-57. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) had a monster game with 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Spirits fall to 8-7, while the Quakers improve to 13-3 overall.

The Salem College basketball team lost to William Peace on the road tonight in a physical game, 64-54. The Spirits were led by Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY), who had her 2nd straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Spirits fall to 8-6 overall, and Peace improves to 4-8.

The Salem College basketball team used a 24-2 run early in the 2nd half to explode by Covenant, 66-45. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 21 points and 3 blocks in the Great South game. Salem improves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Covenant falls to 6-5 and 1-1 in the GSAC.

Basketball loses heartbreaker to Methodist

After losing by double-digits in December at Methodist, the Salem College basketball team barely lost tonight at home to the Monarchs, 66-63. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) had her best night of the year with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Spirits fall to 7-5, while Methodist improves to 8-3.

Taylor wins GSAC Player of the Week for 3rd time

Taylor averaged 19.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, 3 steals per game and 1.5 blocks per game as Salem split contests with D-II Wingate (L, 77-65) and conference foe Huntingdon (W, 70-49) over the break. Taylor drilled 15-of-28 shots from the field in the process for a stellar 54% success rate. This is the third time on the young season that Taylor has earned the GSAC Player of the Week distinction

The Spirits went 1-1 last week, and they picked up an important win in their first Great South game as they defeated Huntingdon, 70-49. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Hawks. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) added 16 points and 4 steals. The Spirits fought hard in a loss to NCAA DII member Wingate University, 77-65. Taylor had 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Spirits are currently 7-4 and 1-0 in the Great South.

Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Salem improves to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Hawks drop to 5-8 and 0-1.
