This Week with Salem Basketball-Week 5

The Spirits went 1-1 last week, and they picked up an important win in their first Great South game as they defeated Huntingdon, 70-49. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Hawks. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) added 16 points and 4 steals. The Spirits fought hard in a loss to NCAA DII member Wingate University, 77-65. Taylor had 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. The Spirits are currently 7-4 and 1-0 in the Great South.

This Week:

The Monarchs of Methodist University are currently 7-3 overall. They recently had their 7 game win streak snapped when they fell to Christopher Newport. Christina Schrader leads Methodist with 11.3 points per game.  The Monarchs defeated Salem in Fayetteville in December.

Salem vs. Covenant, January 12th at 2:00-Salem Gym

The Scots of Covenant are currently 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the Great South. They defeated Wesleyan this week in conference play, 64-48. Jessie Blankenship is leading the Scots with 16 points per game.
