This Week with Salem Basketball-Week 1

The Spirits kicked off their season at the Jackie Ammons Tournament hosted by William Peace University. Salem split their games this weekend. They fell to Washington College of Maryland on Friday 69-56. They bounced back on Saturday to take 3rd-place in the tournament with a 75-67 win against Hollins University. Satavia Taylor produced only the 2nd ever triple-double by a Salem basketball player in the win over Hollins. She had an impressive 12 points, 11 steals and 11 rebounds.

Roanoke College (1-2):
Roanoke College opened their season at home in an ODAC game, which these lost to conference-foe Washington & Lee (34-46). Roanoke lost in their first game of the Guilford Tip-Off in Greensboro to York College (34-57). The Maroons picked up their first win of the season on Sunday at the Guilford Tip-Off, when they defeated North Carolina Wesleyan (74-60). Paxton Gwin currently leads Roanoke with 16.3 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game.
