Shabazz wins GSAC Player of the Week

Shabazz averaged 16 points per game and 12.3 rebounds per game as the Spirits went 1-2 last week. She notched a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Guilford and followed that up with 6 points and 13 rebounds in a loss at Agnes Scott. She capped her stellar week with another double-double, tallying 21 points and 13 rebounds in a road victory over Spelman.

shabazzovercovATLANTA, Ga. - The Great South Athletic Conference announced the winter sports week ten Player of the Week on Wednesday morning and women’s basketball player Jasmine Shabazz of Salem College was selected as the winner through exclusive voting by the league sports information directors.

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
