Basketball loses in non-conference game at Methodist

The Salem College basketball team lost for the first time in 5 games tonight as they lost 75-52 at Methodist University. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals. Salem falls to 4-2 overall and Methodist improves to 6-2.

Fayetteville, NC-The Salem College basketball team lost for the first time in 5 games tonight as they fell brandidrib275-52 at Methodist University. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) led the Spirits with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 blocks. Salem falls to 4-2 overall and Methodist improves to 6-2. 

In the first 7 minutes, Salem was able to open up a 17-13 lead. Over the next 12 minutes, the Monarchs went on a 19-6 run to take a 9 point lead. Methodist would lead by 8 points at the break. 

Methodist went on a 10-0 run to start the 2nd half. Salem cut it down to 16 with a little more than 10 minutes remaining, but they would not get closer. 

Salem was able to cause 25 turnovers in the game, and they collected 15 steals.  The 2 teams were also even on the boards with the Spirits holding a 39-38 advantage. Quntashea Lewis (Hartford, CT) added 8 points for the Spirits and Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) had 7 rebounds.

The Spirits return home on Friday when they host William Peace at 7:00.
