Hall's free throw propels basketball to Jackie Ammons Championship Game tomorrow

Jojo Hall's (Concord, NC) free throw with 5 seconds left lifted the Salem College basketball team to a 53-52 non-conference road win against Peace in the first round of the Jackie Ammons Tournament. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led the Spirits with 21 points in the victory. Salem will play in the championship game tomorrow against the winner of the Concordia-Guilford game. Salem improve to 1-1 on the season, and Peace falls to 0-2.

Raleigh, NC-Jojo Hall's (Concord, NC) free throw with 5 seconds left lifted the Salem College basketball team to a 53-52 non-conference road win against Peace in the first round of the Jackie Ammons Tournament. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led the Spirits with 21 points in the victory. Salem will play in the championship game tomorrow against the winner of the Concordia-Guilford game. Salem improve to 1-1 on the season, and Peace falls to 0-2.

The Spirits went into halftime with a 3 point edge at 22-19. For the second straight game, Salem shot much better in the second half by shooting 40 percent from the field compared to 26 percent in the first.

Hall added 17 points and 9 rebounds. She also had an impressive 6 steals and 3 assists. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) led the Spirits with 10 rebounds. Peace was led by Crystal Alston with 15 points.
