Basketball loses first game of the season at home to Methodist

The Salem College basketball team dropped their first game of the season at home to Methodist University 66-36. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) led the Spirits with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Salem falls to 0-1 on the year, and Methodist improves to 1-0.

zykeyadribbleWinston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team dropped their first game of the season at home to Methodist University 66-36. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) led the Spirits with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Salem falls to 0-1 on the year, and Methodist improves to 1-0.

The Spirits struggled from the field in the first half going 6-30 and they also had 14 first-half turnovers. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led the Spirits with 6 points at the break. The Monarchs led 39-15 at the intermission.

The Spirits picked up their shooting in the second half, including going 4-13 from behind the arc, but they were never able to cut into the lead. Kristal Lollis (Oberlin, LA) and Zy Henderson (Spartanburg, SC) each had 2 steals for Salem in the game. Brianna Robinson led Methodist with 15 points.

Salem will return to action this weekend when they travel to Raleigh to play in the Jackie Ammons Tournament hosted by Peace.
