Basketball can't pull off season sweep of William Peace at home

The Salem College basketball team could not pull off the season sweep of William Peace University in a 71-58 home non-conference loss. The Spirits defeated Peace just under 3 weeks ago. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) had a very strong game with a season-high 25 points and 5 rebounds. Salem falls to 1-6 overall, and William Peace improves to 1-7.

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team could not pull off the season sweep of William Peace University in a 71-58 home non-conference loss. The Spirits defeated Peace just under 3 weeks ago. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) had a very strong game tonight with a season-high 25 points and 5 rebounds. Salem falls to 1-6 overall, and William Peace improves to 1-7.

The Spirits had some of their best shooting of the season in the first half by shooting 46 percent from the field. The two teams went into the break with the Pacers controlling a 36-32 advantage.

Salem continued to shoot a high percentage in the second half, including going 7-12 from behind the 3 point line for the game. The Pacers had a 46-30 advantage on the boards.

Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) had a big night with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) and Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) each had 5 assists for the Spirits. Callie Yohn led the Pacers with 18 points and 20 rebounds.

Salem will be off for the rest of 2012, and they will hit the court again on January 7th in a Great South game at Huntingdon.
