Salem loses to Hartwick and Rector selected to all-tourney team

The Salem College basketball team lost in the third-place game against Hartwick College, 77-56, in the Jackie Ammons Tournament hosted by Peace College. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) finished with 13 points and was selected to the all-tournament team. Salem falls to 0-3 with the loss.

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College basketball team lost in the third-place game against Hartwick College, 77-56, in the Jackie Ammons Tournament hosted by Peace College. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) finished with 13 points and was selected to the all-tournament team. Salem falls to 0-3 with the loss. 

Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Spirits. LaSashia Connelly (Morganton, NC) added 9 points in the game. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) led Salem with 5 assists, and Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) led the Spirits with 3 steals.

Kait Veit had a game-high 27 points for Hartwick. Peace was the overall champion of the tournament after defeating Maine Maritime in the championship game.

Salem plays their first home game tomorrow when they host Spelman College in a Great South Athletic Conference game at 3:00.
