Salem cruises to home win against Piedmont Baptist

The Salem College basketball team cruised to an easy 87-66 win against crosstown rival Piedmont Baptist College. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) had a career night with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. Salem improves to 6-10 overall, while Piedmont Baptist drops to 8-8.

ambershootsWinston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team cruised to an easy 87-66 win against crosstown rival Piedmont Baptist College. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) had a career night with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 steals. She also broke Salem's single game three-point record going 7 for 8 from behind the three-point line. Salem improves to 6-10 overall, while Piedmont Baptist drops to 8-8.

Salem jumped out to an early 12-1 lead and never looked back. With 10:49 left in the first-half Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) scored her 1,000th career point for the Spirits. Salem would go into the break with a 49-29 advantage.

Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA), this week's Great South Athletic Conference Player of the Week, had another strong night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rector finished with 12 points, 9 assists, and 3 steals. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) also scored 12 points for the Spirits. Emily Buffaloe had a game-high 28 points to lead Piedmont Baptist.

Salem returns to action this weekend with a conference road game at Covenant on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
