Rector scores 20 in last game for Spirits in loss against SVU

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team went down fighting in their last game of the season in a loss to Southern Virginia University, 75-69. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC), playing in her last game for Salem, scored 20 points and had 4 steals. Salem ends the season with a 7-18 record, while Southern Virginia improved to 12-14.
Southern Virginia controlled the first half and went into the break with a 37-32 advantage. Salem was able to claw back in the second half. The Spirits made the last five minutes very exciting, and cut the lead to 2 at 69-67. Southern Virginia was able to bury their foul shots at the end to secure the victory.
Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) added 19 points and 9 rebounds. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) also scored 19 points and she had 7 rebounds. Nicole Tolman had a game-high 26 points for Southern Virginia.
Rector finishes her career as the all-time leading scorer in Salem College history.
