Basketball loses GSAC regular season finale at Agnes Scott

The Salem College basketball team could not hang on in a close Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) game today at Agnes Scott. The Spirits led by 2 with 5 minutes remaining before Agnes Scott pulled away for a 65-59 advantage. Salem falls to 6-17 overall and they finish GSAC regular season play with a 4-10 conference record. They will have to wait to see who wins the Spelman vs. Huntingdon game to see if they qualify for the 6th and final playoff spot.

Decatur, GA-The Salem College basketball team could not hang on in a close Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) game today at Agnes Scott. The Spirits led by 2 points with 5 minutes remaining before Agnes Scott pulled away for a 65-59 win. Salem falls to 6-17 overall and they finish GSAC regular season play with a 4-10 conference record. They will have to wait to see who wins the Spelman vs. Huntingdon game to see if they qualify for the 6th and final playoff spot.

The two teams were knotted up at 33 at halftime. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) once again led the Spirits in scoring with 18 points. Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) had her second straight double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) added 17 points, and Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) led the Spirits with 12 rebounds. Arielle Register had a game high 21 points for Agnes Scott.

Salem returns to action when they try to sweep cross-town rivals, Piedmont Baptist College, on the road on Tuesday at 7:00.
