Basketball drops two away conference games this weekend

LaGrange, GA-The Salem College basketball team lost two Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) away games this weekend. The Spirits fell to Huntingdon in Alabama 67-64 on Saturday. They lost this afternoon to LaGrange 100-70. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led Salem with 17 points in the game today. Salem falls to 1-5 on the season and to 1-2 in the GSAC.
The Spirits held a 17-6 lead in the game today, before LaGrange ended the half with a 34-33 lead. LaGrange would go on to take control in the second half. Denerson and Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) led Salem with 7 rebounds. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) scored 14 points, and both Jojo Hall (Concord, NC) and Racheal Salmons (Yadkinville, NC) scored 10 points. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) led the team with 8 assists.
In the game against Huntingdon, Salem held a 29-26 advantage at the half. Hall finished with a game-high 24 points for the Spirits. She also led the team with 3 assists and 3 steals. Rector scored 18 points in the game, and Miller led Salem with 12 rebounds.
Salem returns home on December 8th when they host Peace College in a non-conference game at 7:00.
