Basketball Loses to Maryville College

The Salem College basketball team was not able to withstand the pressure from Maryville College in a 105-47 home loss. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) led Salem with 15 points. Salem falls to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the GSAC, while Maryville improves to 8-4 overall.

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team was not able to withstand the pressure from Maryville College in a 105-47 home loss. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) led Salem with 15 points. Salem falls to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the GSAC, while Maryville improves to 8-4 overall.

Maryville got off to hot starts at the start of each half. Maryville held a 55-20 halftime advantage. The Scots shot 54.8% from behind the three-point line for the game.

Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led Salem with 5 rebounds on the game. Racheal Salmons (Yadkinville, NC) had 2 steals, and LaSashia Connelly (Morganton, NC) and Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) each had 3 assists. Lauren Burnett led Maryville with 22 points.

Salem returns to action on January 15th when they head to Georgia to take on Wesleyan College at 2:00 pm.
