Bluffton's Thompson commits to play basketball for Salem

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball program is excited to announce that Amanda Thompson committed to attend Salem next fall. Thompson was a standout basketball player at Bluffton High School in Bluffton, SC.
Thompson was a two-time most valuable player and two-time 1st team all-region selection for the Bobcats. She was a 2009-2010 Island Packet/ Beaufort Gazette All-Area member, and she was the Wendy's Heisman winner for her school. Thompson was also selected as the Bluffton Bobcats Female Athlete of the Year as a senior. She averaged 10.8 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game, and 1.7 steals per game this past season.
Thompson was very successful academically at Bluffton. She was a member of National Honor Society and her Senior Class Treasurer. Thompson was chosen as a Bluffton Junior Leadership Program Graduate.
Salem College is a NCAA Division III institution located in Winston-Salem, NC. Salem is the oldest educational institution for women in the United States, and was founded in 1772. The institution boasts a proud history of fostering independence in women. Salem was recently ranked number 67 in Forbes magazines second annual ranking of America's 600 best colleges, and as Forbes' number fourteen in their "America's Best College Buys" Top 100.
