LaGrange, GA-The Salem College basketball team fell to LaGrange, 109-57, in a Great South Conference game. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led the Spirits with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Salem drops to 9-11 overall, and 5-8 in the GSAC. LaGrange improves to 17-7 overall, and 11-2 in conference with the win.

Salem jumped out to a 7-5 lead, but that we their last lead of the game. LaGrange outscored the Spirits 60-29 in the first half of play.

Salem cut the lead back to 25 with 15:41 remaining, but that was the closest they would get in the second half. LaGrange outrebounded Salem 59-34 in the game, and forced the Spirits to turn the ball over 30 times.

Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) finished with 10 points for Salem to go along with 2 steals. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) had three blocks for Salem. Heather Miller led six LaGrange players that scored double-digit points, and she finished with 21 points.

Salem returns to action tomorrow at Huntingdon. If Salem wins the game, they will secure a fourth place regular season finish in the GSAC.
