Decatur, GA- The Salem College basketball team lost on the road, 65-64, against conference foe Spelman College. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) continued her hot-streak with 17 points and 2 steals. Salem falls to 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Great South. Spelman improves to 4-11 overall and 4-5 in the GSAC.  

Spelman held a 40-38 edge at the break. Salem outscored the Jaguars in the second half, but Spelman held on for the win. The Spirits shot 38% from the field (18-48), and 29% from the three-point line (4-14).

Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) scored 10 points, added 7 rebounds, and led the team with 4 assists. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) scored 7 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Shamaz Denerson (Atlanta, GA) led the Spirits with 8 rebounds.

Shanda Kennedy had a game-high 32 points to lead Spelman. Salem returns to action Friday night at Georgia Wesleyan.
