Basketball ends season in GSAC Quarterfinals

Demorest, GA- The Salem College basketball team ended their season losing 84-58 at Piedmont in the Great South Conference Tournament Quarterfinals. Lauren Redman (Lenoir, NC) finished the game and her career with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Salem ends the season with a 9-14 overall record. Piedmont improves to 13-13 and they advance to the semifinals to take on LaGrange.
Piedmont jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first 4:47 and never looked back. Salem was able to close the lead to seven, but could not get any closer. Piedmont had a 46-28 lead at the break.
The closest Salem came in the second half was at the 10:57 mark when they trailed by 17. Amber Miller (Mebane, NC) scored 10 points for the Spirits. Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) and Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) each had 3 assists and 2 steals. Piedmont held a 49-41 rebound advantage.
Redman was placed on the GSAC All-Academic Team. A student-athlete must hold over a 3.4 GPA and be a sophomore or above to be placed on this team.
