Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College basketball team picked up their second big home victory in a row against Piedmont Baptist, 84-55. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) had 18 points and a season-high 16 rebounds to lead the Spirits. Salem improves to 7-17 with the win, and Piedmont Baptist falls to 8-12.

Salem finished a 19-1 run with 1:54 remaining in the first-half to take control of the game, 38-16. The Spirits would take a 45-18 lead into halftime. Smith led the team with 11 at half, and Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) added 10 in the first. Salem shot 41% from the field in the first-half.

Four players finished with double figure points for the Spirits. Rector finished with 17 points. Jessi Watts (Hillsville, VA) added 13 also, and Courtney Sauer finished with 10 points.

Joanne Hall (Concord, NC) finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Hailie Lineberry (Woodlawn, VA) had a strong night off of the bench with 7 points and 6 rebounds. The Spirits had a strong night from the free-throw line, shooting 81.8% (18-22). Kirby Hill led the Conquerors with 18 points.

Salem will host their final game of the season on February 12^th at 7:00.
