Basketball loses to Methodist at Turkey Shootout

Fayetteville, NC- The Salem College basketball team lost in the first round of the Turkey Shootout to Methodist, 73-46. Salem will play the College of Notre Dame (MD) tomorrow afternoon in the 3rd-place game. Methodist will play the Apprentice School in the championship game. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) led the Spirits with 10 points. Salem falls to 2-5 on the season, and Methodist improves to 2-1.

Methodist started the game with a 19-6 run and held a 40-19 halftime lead. Salem was never able to get back into the game in the second half. Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) had 5 steals in the game, and Ashley Wilcox (Ronda, NC) had 6 rebounds to lead the Spirits. Amanda Underwood led Methodist in scoring with 15 points.
