Basketball loses close game to Wesley College

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College basketball team lost a close game to Wesley College, 76-70. The game was Salem's third game in the 21st Annual Piedmont Baptist College Classic. Salem finished in third in the classic, and Wesley took second. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) led three Salem players in double-digits with 19 points. Salem falls to 5-12, while Wesley improves to 6-10 on the season. 

The Spirits trailed by 9 at the half, 44-35. Salem was able to tie the game at 70-70 with 2:11 left. Wesley scored the final 6 points of the game. Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC) had a strong game with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds for the Spirits. 

Salem returns to action on the 14th as they travel to N.C. Wesleyan.
