Rocky Mount, NC- The Salem College basketball team was defeated by N.C. Wesleyan, 67-57. Salem fought back from a 7 point halftime deficit to tie the game, 50-50, with 4:36 remaining. N.C. Wesleyan went on a 10-2 run over the next 3:12 to take control of the game. Destiny Harris (Concord, NC) led the Spirits in scoring with 12 points. Salem falls to 5-13, while N.C. Wesleyan improves to 4-5.

N.C. Wesleyan led at the half 37-30. Joanne Hall (Concord, NC) had 10 points for Salem. Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) pulled in 12 rebounds, and Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) added 10 rebounds. Salem lost 55-41 to N.C. Wesleyan at home in their first game of the season. Essence Chambers led Wesleyan with 26 points.

Salem travels to Montreat College on January 19th.
