Basketball finishes season with a win

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College basketball team finished their season on a three-game win streak. Their last victory against RandolphCollege (70-66) was their most impressive win. Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) led the team with 22 points, 4 steals, and 3 rebounds. Salem finishes the season 8-17, while Randolph drops to 4-17.

Randolph led by as many as 12 points in the first half. Salem went on a 6-0 run to end the half down 31-25. Sarah Smith (Hays, NC) led Salem at half with 11 points.

The Spirits shot improved in the second half from the field (42.9%), and from behind the three-point line (35.7%). Randolph led by 8 points (53-45) with 10:57 remaining. Salem would outscore Randolph 25-13 to finish the game. Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC) sealed the win with 8 seconds remaining, when she drained two free-throws.

Smith finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 1 block. Joanne Hall (Concord, NC) had a strong night with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Katie Rechnitzer had a game-high 23 points for Randolph.
