Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College basketball team lost their first game of the season to North Carolina Wesleyan, 55-41, in front of a packed Salem Gym. Salem was led by Joanne Hall (Concord, NC), who had 9 points for the Spirits. N.C. Wesleyan guard, Essence Chambers, had the most points in the game with 21. Salem falls to 0-1, and N.C. Wesleyan improves to 1-0.

Salem led the game at halftime 25-23, but were outscored by 16 in the second half. Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) and Kelsey Rector (State Road, NC) each provided 8 points for Salem. Courtney Sauer (Carthage, NC) led the team with 5 rebounds. Christine Tillman (King, NC) had 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

 Salem returns to action on Monday night as they host Averett at 7:00.
