Winston-Salem, NC- First year student-athlete Kelsey Rector was named to the Association of Division III Independents Women’s Honorable Mention Basketball Team.

Rector, a 2007 graduate of Elkin High School and a native of State Road, North Carolina, averaged 11.2 points per game for the Salem College Spirits during the 2007-2008 season. During the season, Rector scored a record 41 three-pointers, including a record four vs. Warren Wilson College. In that February 9th game in Swannanoa, North Carolina, Rector recorded 31 points, breaking the single-game scoring record for Salem College. During the season, Rector was named to the Jackie Ammons Memorial All-Tournament Team and the Piedmont Baptist College All-Tournament Team.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 21 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition in nine sports in 2007-08.  The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.  The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports.
