NCCSIA Announces North Carolina All-State College Division Women's Basketball Teams

Salisbury, N.C. – Ten student-athletes, representing 10 institutions, make up the third annual North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Women’s Basketball Teams released Tuesday. North Carolina Central’s Cassie King and Elizabeth City State’s Celeste Trahan, All-Americans from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), both made the first team all-state squad for the third straight season. Wingate’s Tanetra Barrett and Greensboro’s Staci Humphrey are also repeat selections to the first team.
The squads consist of students from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges and universities throughout the state. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted nominees and NCCSIA members selected the two-five student teams. All students involved with ties in the voting process are included on the all-state squad.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects all-state teams for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball on the College (Division II, III, NAIA) and University (Division I) levels. More than 400 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
NCCSIA’s all-state men’s basketball teams will be released Thursday. The organization’s university division all-state women’s basketball squad was also announced Tuesday.
