Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College Spirits hosted the Warren Wilson College Owls in a non-conference women’s basketball game Wednesday evening. The Spirits had seven players score in double figures and cruised to a 108-28 victory. The 108 point total broke the school scoring record set earlier in the 2006-2007 season. This was the eighth consecutive victory for Salem College.

 

Casey Jones (Winston-Salem, NC) scored 20 points to lead the Spirits (11-6) in scoring. Lauren Redman (Lenoir, NC) and Alex Ervin (Morganton, NC) scored 18 points while Shakila Springs (Winston-Salem, NC) and Lindsay Cross (Asbeboro, NC) scored 11 points. Shakila Springs led the Spirits in rebounding with 14 while teammate Lindsay Cross grabbed 12. Laura Young (Lexington, NC), coming back from a severe ankle injury, scored a collegiate high of 10 points. Stephanie Wilson (Morganton, NC) came off the bench to score 11 points. Every Salem player scored and contributed in this record breaking win.

Warren Wilson College (0-17) was led by Lauren Lucer with 7 points and 10 rebounds.
