January 28- Salem College traveled to Roanoke, VA this afternoon to play Hollins University in a non-conference women’s basketball game. The Spirits jumped out to a 50-21 lead at halftime and coasted to a 92-59 victory over Hollins. Six Salem players scored in double digits including Lindsay Cross (Asheboro, NC) who led the team with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Alex Ervin (Morganton, NC) scored 15, Lauren Redman (Lenoir, NC) scored 13 points, Casey Jones (Winston-Salem, NC) scored 12 points while both Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) and Shakila Springs (Winston-Salem, NC) scored 10 points each. As a team, Salem had 19 steals, including 6 by Jewell Robinson (Winston-Salem, NC).

Hollins University (1-13) was led by Nicole Grant (24 points) and Emily Long (15 points, 12 rebounds).

Salem College (8-6) will seek their sixth straight victory Tuesday evening at 5 pm as they host Piedmont Baptist College.
