Salem Drops A Close One At Home
November 21- On Tuesday evening, the North Carolina Wesleyan College Bishops traveled to Winston-Salem to take on the Spirits of Salem College in a non-conference basketball game. The Spirits were plagued with turnovers and poor free throw shooting throughout the game, resulting in a close 57-51 loss to the Bishops (1-2).
The first half saw the lead change numerous times with the Spirits gaining their final lead with 33 seconds to go in the first half. With the score tied at 28 at halftime, the Bishops clawed ahead in the second half. With 1:21 to go, Alexandrea Ervin made a free throw to pull Salem within 3 points. The Bishops hung on to win and earned their first victory of the season.
Shakila Springs (Winston-Salem, NC) led the Spirits (1-2) in scoring with 15 points, followed by Michala Michaux (Morganton, NC) with 11 and Alexandrea Ervin (Morganton, NC) with 10. Lauren Redman (Lenoir, NC) led the team in rebounding with 5 while also scoring 7 points. The Bishops were led by Shameika Faircloth with 12 points.
