Basketball eases past Huntingdon in first GSAC game

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College basketball team eased to a 70-49 win against Huntingdon in their first Great South game of the season. Jasmine Shabazz (Buffalo, NY) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Salem improves to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Hawks drop to 5-8 and 0-1.
Huntingdon jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first 7 minutes, but it was all Salem from there. The Spirits went into the break with a 30-27 lead. They started the 2nd half on fire with a 14-6 run and they never looked back.
Denika Harden (Youngstown, OH) scored 15 points playing in her first home game at Salem. Satavia Taylor (Chicago, IL) added 16 points and 4 steals. Shaniqua Collins (Hoffman, NC) was hot off the bench with 14 points.
The Spirits return to action on Wednesday when they try to pay back Methodist for a road loss earlier in the season.
