Tennis drops match against Agnes Scott
The Salem College tennis team lost a Great South Athletic Conference match to Agnes Scott at home this weekend. The Scotties swept the match 9-0. The Spirits will return to action on April 13th as they take on Georgia Wesleyan in two matches.
Track & Field set six records at Wofford
The Salem College track & field team set six new school records this past weekend at the Wofford Invitational. Victoria Chaffers (Deltona, FL) was the member of three different relays that set school marks.
Softball sweeps Covenant on the road
The Salem College softball team dominated Covenant on the road in a two games of Great South action. Kristi Morton (Trussville, AL) and Lexi Perez (Mount Ulla, NC) were both red-hot from the plate. The Spirits improve their GSAC record to 4-4 and 7-17 overall, while Covenant falls to 1-7 and 2-22.
Softball falls on the road against Guilford
The Salem College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader to Guilford College today in non-conference play. Guilford won both games in 5-innings. They took game one 9-1 and game two 16-4. The Spirits drop to 5-17, while the Quakers improve to 14-12.
Tennis loses at home against Covenant
The Salem College tennis team lost 0-9 to Covenant in Great South action. This was the 1st game back for the Spirits after spring break. They drop to 0-6 overall with the loss.
West Stokes High's Smith commits to play softball at Salem
The Salem College softball team is excited to announce that Lauryn Smith has committed and deposited to attend Salem next fall. Smith played softball for Coach Andrew O’Neil at West Stokes High School in King, NC. The Salem softball team is currently in 3rd place in the Great South Athletic Conference regular season.
Verdi wins 5K at WSSU Relays
The Salem College track & field team competed at the 2013 Winston-Salem State Relays this past weekend. Stephanie Verdi (High Point, NC) won the 5K at the meet. Stephanie Hubbard (Sanford, NC) finished in 2nd in the javelin throw.
Verdi and Ferguson break records at High Point
The Salem College track & field team competed this past weekend at the VertKlasse Meet hosted by High Point University. Stephanie Verdi (High Point, NC) crushed her own 5K record with a 20:18 run and 17th-place finish. Sawyer Ferguson (Billings, MT) broke her 400 hurdle record with a 5th-place finish in 1:08.08.
Softball drops two non-conference games at Emory and Henry
The Salem College softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Emory & Henry in non-conference action. The Wasps won the 1st game 14-5 and the 2nd game in 5 innings 11-3. The Spirits are now 5-15 overall, while the Wasps improve to 8-8.
