Prospective Students
At Salem College, we seek young women with strong academic talent, motivation and character who will benefit from, and add to, the quality of life on campus. We accept applications from students of all religious, geographic, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
Your completed application will be considered individually. Acceptance to Salem is based on your school record, scores from the SAT I or ACT, extracurricular activities and information about your academic and personal qualification.
We encourage you to consider meeting with a member of our admissions staff for a personal interview, although it is not required. It’s a great way to get to learn more about Salem. As part of the interview, you’ll meet with a staff member in our Admissions Office, talk with our professors and students, sample a class and tour our beautiful campus.
Undergraduate Admissions Minimum Requirements:
4 English Credits
3 Math Credits (must include Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II
3 Science Credits
2 Social Studies (includes history, psychology, economics, government)
2 Foreign Language Credits (must be the same foreign language)

Use your web browser to apply using our online application form. The form comes in two parts: your academic information and your personal statement.- Common Application - This application form can be completed online via the Common Application Web site.
- Fill out our Information Request Form and we will send you a packet that includes the Salem application. You may also request an application by phone at 1-800-32-SALEM or e-mail at admissions@salem.edu.
- You may download and print the application (see below) - our application is available for download in Adobe's Acrobat format. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view and print these files.
- School of Music – If you are interested in the School of Music, you will need to submit the standard application PLUS the Music Interest Form. You’ll also need to arrange for an audition.
