Lateral entry candidates may elect to enroll in selected graduate coursework at Salem College in order to complete initial licensure requirements set forth by the state. Typically, lateral entry teachers consult with the Regional Alternative Licensure Center (RALC) or their school district’s human resources division to determine specific competencies and coursework that must be completed to earn initial North Carolina licensure. Salem College offers these required courses, and we welcome the opportunity to help lateral entry candidates be successful in their classrooms.
Candidates who complete limited selected coursework at Salem College may also choose to apply to the M.A.T. program, complete their licensure in phase 1 and then progress into graduate candidacy in phase 2.
