Three Salem Teams Have Fine Showing at GSAC
Three Salem teams -- volleyball, cross-country and soccer -- did extremely well during their first-ever appearances in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) tournament.
The Salem College soccer team finished fourth overall in the Great South Athletic Conference with a record in the GSAC of 3-4 and an overall record of 12-7-1. By finishing fourth, the Spirits traveled to Maryville College to play in the semifinals against Maryville. Maryville came out on top of that match with a score of 3-0.
Salem College’s volleyball team finished fourth overall in the Great South Athletic Conference. Their record for the GSAC was 4-3 and their overall record for the season was 11-19.
The Salem College cross country team finished second in the Great South Athletic Conference championship. Two of the team's runners were selected to the GSAC All-Conference team. They are Julie Piernikowski, a junior, and Stephanie Mendez, a first year. All of the team members ran their best 6k times ever!
Salem is proud of its first year of participation in the GSAC.
