Chaplain Receives Doctorate
Amy Rio-Anderson, chaplain for Salem Academy and College, has received her Doctor of Ministry degree with a focus on spirituality and story from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
The degrees were conferred on May 11 in the National Cathedral.
Rio-Anderson, who has been chaplain at Salem for the past two years, also has had a chapter entitled “Being Formed by the Spirit: Spiritual Formation and Christian Discipling with College Students” published in the book To Transform the World: Vital United Methodist Campus Ministries.
Before coming to Salem, Rio-Anderson was the United Methodist campus minister at UNC-Greensboro for two years and before that, the United Methodist campus minister at UNC-Asheville for seven years. She has also served local churches in the Asheville area.
